It is well known that hair accessories, such as scrunchies or hair ties, leave a dent in tresses after removal. This is often caused by too much pressure from the hair tie upon the hair fibers, but there is a balance between lower pressure and the ability of the accessory to hold hair in place for a long duration. Image analysis can be used to investigate the degree to which hair has been permanently deformed, or bent, by hair accessories.
