Things are shaping up nicely for the ‘Symposium on the Fatigue Testing of Hair’, which takes place on Thursday 15th May. Today we are pleased to announce that Dr Lynsey McColl, Managing Director of Select Statistics (UK) will be speaking about Survival Analysis with Applications in Fatigue Testing of Hair. This event, co-organized with Dia-Stron Ltd, will be a hybrid event. A very limited number of places are available to join the symposium live at TRI. There are, of course, unlimited paces on-line, and the event will be streamed live, and on playback as usual.

Dr Lnysey McColl will be present a talk titled ‘An Introduction to Survival Analysis with Applications in Fatigue Testing of Hair’. The abstract reads as follows:
The aim of this talk is to introduce survival analysis, a field of statistical tools used to assess the time until an event occurs. In healthcare the “event” is often death, but the techniques are applicable to a number of other scenarios including customer retention where the “event” is the loss of a customer, financial modelling where the “event” is the default of a loan and, in this case, hair fatigue testing where the “event” is the failure of a fibre in fatigue testing. During the presentation I will provide details on the background to survival analysis and time to even data, univariate approaches and more sophisticated modelling approaches including Cox proportional hazard modelling.
Contact us if you have specific questions for Lynsey, and we can try and include this information in the talk and in the discussions.
