Dr Trefor Evans, Retirement

Dr Trefor Evans, Institute Fellow, will retire this month from his full-time position at TRI. Trefor will continue to be a Fellow of the institute and will still support the institute in various ways, for example in courses and conferences, and in research work. Please contact us if you need to get in touch with Trefor going forwards.

Dr Trefor Evans, Dr David Graham (TRI President), Steve Kubicki (TRI Facilities and Operations Manager). 3rd Multi-Ethnic Hair and Scalp Care Symposium, Red Bank, NJ, June 6th, 2023.

Since joining TRI in 2007 Trefor has held the roles Director of Measurement Services and Director of Research. He has played a key role in building-up TRI’s hair claims testing capabilities, in developing and growing the TRI hair claims course, and in leading the International Conference on Applied Hair Science. His important research into the mechanical properties of hair fibers, and on the effects of water and various treatments on the hair, has led to many publications, and conference presentations. In addition, Trefor’s interest and research into the world of fatigue testing has opened-up whole new areas of research for the hair category, and this is still an area he is interested in investigating going forward.

Trefor is really looking forward to spending more time on his scientific writing, pursuing his passions for wildlife and photography, and spending time with his grandchildren. We all, at TRI, wish him a happy and healthy retirement and thank him for all that he has done for the institute over many, many years.

Find out more about Trefor’s work in the book Practical Modern Hair Science, available to download for free in the TRI Library. Over 40 of Trefor’s presentations and publications can also be found in the TRI Library.
