Split-end Closure
Automated Repeated Grooming Device
For many consumers, split-ends are an important indicator of hair damage. They are formed as a result of chemical processing, heat styling and combing, and arise from the loss of the hair cuticle, or the external ‘jacket’ that keeps hair fibers intact. If you want to show how your product closes split-ends, then you might want to consider our split-end test.
At TRI, the repeated grooming apparatus is used to create new split-ends. Split-end closure tests then measure the effectiveness of hair treatments in closing-up these split-ends. Split-end closure is measured through the visual assessment of microscope images by trained assessors.
